THREE cannabis factories have been discovered in as many days in Goole.
The cannabis plants were discovered at three properties in the area yesterday and over the weekend thanks to tip-offs from members of the public.
The biggest factory was discovered yesterday morning at a house in Marlborough Avenue, where 95 cannabis plants were found.
PC Dave Lonsdale said: "We were alerted to a strange smell in the Marlborough Avenue area of the town on Twitter.
"Officers attended the scene, where they saw three men leaving a house carrying three bags.
"The address was searched by officers and 95 cannabis plants were found."
Four men were arrested in connection with the cannabis farm and are currently in police custody.
The discovery was witnessed by residents living in Marlborough Avenue.
One woman, who has asked not to be named, said: "I went outside for a cigarette and a police officer came up to me and asked me if I knew what was going on at the house.
"I told him I had no idea and then he said there had been a cannabis farm discovered inside the house.
"It was a really big shock, to be honest.
"Someone moved into the house where it all happened a few months back but I have only seen him a couple of times."
"You just don't expect something like this to happen on your own street.
"There are children that live in this area and my granddaughter comes and visits regularly.
"It is terrible for something like this to happen."
A total of 30 cannabis plants were also discovered at a house in Jefferson Street on Sunday.
PC Lonsdale said: "We received an anonymous call from someone reporting seeing a male carrying a television into the back of a house in Jefferson Street.
"We went to investigate the derelict property and came across 30 plants in the bedroom of the property."
Investigations are continuing and anyone with information should contact police on 101, quoting crime reference number CJ2043923 of May 10, 2014.
Further cannabis plants were discovered growing in the bathroom at a house in Kilpin near Goole on Saturday.
Plants were also found in the garage of the property.
A woman was cautioned at the scene.
PC Lonsdale said: "We want to warn residents that if we receive information about cannabis or other drugs, this will be followed up and people will be prosecuted.
"Drugs will not be tolerated."
