Charlie Mullan watched the Super League match between Salford Red Devils and Hull KR at the AJ Bell Stadium on Saturday, May 10, 2014. HULL KR left the AJ Bell Stadium with a point after a thrilling 16-16 draw, but it should have been a win. Awarded a penalty within kicking range for Travis Burns and with coach Craig Sandercock screaming to take the two points, Rovers took the tap penalty and contrived to blow their chance of a try when Mick Weyman knocked on playing the ball. Moments later Rangi Chase's drop goal from 45 metres rebounded off the crossbar. A last-gasp Gareth Hock break threatened to spoil Rovers' day but his pass outside to Jake Mullaney went to ground, to leave both sides with a point. Francis Meli opened the scoring in the 21st minute before Kris Welham and Kevin Larroyer replied to give Rovers a 10-4 lead at the break. Salford levelled through Meli's second try before Neville Costigan restored KR's lead at 16-10. Martin Gleeson scored to set up a tense finale as both sides tried to find the winning points to no avail.
