LEE Radford remains confident Hull FC's season can turn itself around, but he admits there will be no quick fixes after hitting their lowest ebb.
The Black and Whites were dismantled by Wigan in a 44-16 defeat at the KC Stadium that leaves FC searching for any sort of form heading into an important derby week.
While hopeful they can turn it around over time, Radford admits they need to find their confidence as quickly as possible.
"We are in a rut in the way we are playing and you can see the players are individually struggling and as a collective," he said.
"I said to the players after the game it doesn't get any worse than what I have witnessed in the last 160 minutes of rugby. We can only go one way now, so let's come together on Monday, focus on Hull KR and see how that goes.
"It's not something that will be turned around next week, or something that will be turned around in a fortnight, it takes time and you can see that.
"We'll work tirelessly to do that as a group. We are really struggling at the moment confidence wise and with our form. Nobody knows where it comes from or where it goes, but we have to try and find it as soon as possible."
Hull needed a good start against Wigan to help banish the memories of last week's Wakefield loss, but found themselves 14-0 down and, despite a Gareth Ellis score giving them hope, the Warriors pressed home their advantage to record a simple win.
Hull have now lost three of their last four games and will drop out of the top eight tonight if cross-city rivals Hull KR beat Salford.
"Wigan pride themselves on being ruthless. They've seen a wounded animal and jumped on the back of it," added Radford.
"We had a bit of hope and we wanted a response. We had spikes of enthusiasm when someone got frustrated, but as a collective there was no foundation there for us to get a result."
