Hull FC star Iafeta Paleaaesina: 'Our fans deserve better'

IAFETA Paleaaesina wants his Hull FC team-mates to address their below-par performances for the sake of their fans as much as themselves. Labelling Hull's form as "simply not good enough" in the wake of Sunday's capitulation against Wakefield, the former New Zealand international has apologising to the fans who witnessed the 23-16 loss.

Well aware of the disgruntlement amongst many fans after losing to a Wakefield side that was on a six-match losing streak, Paleaaesina is eager to put a smile back on their faces with a win over Wigan on Friday night.

"It needs sorting and it needs sorting now," he told the Mail. "We've got a lot of fans who work their butts off all week and then come to watch us and what we dished up against Wakefield is not good enough for them.

"I know the results affect a lot of people and we haven't put a smile on their face, so it needs sorting and soon."

The defeat leaves Hull seventh in the Super League table and still within striking distance of those immediately above them. But, following a third home defeat of the campaign, Lee Radford's side have again seemingly lost the faith of some fans, who voiced their anger after the final whistle against the Wildcats.

For Paleaaesina, it's difficult to put his finger on why Hull keep succumbing to inconsistency.

"After the London Broncos game, we thought we were making progress but it's two steps forward and then a step back at the moment," he added.

"I'm lost for words trying to sum it up. All I can do is apologise to our supporters because it's not good enough. We don't prepare like that and it's simply not good enough at all. If we knew why it was happening we'd stop it, but we don't and that's why it is frustrating."

The onus will be on the Black and Whites to bounce back on Friday night against the reigning champions, with Hull taking some confidence from the way they have played against the league's leading teams this season.

The Warriors head to the KC on the back of a defeat themselves, a fact former Wigan man Paleaaesina admits makes the game even tougher for his side.

"After Wigan's tough loss to Leeds, they will come here fired up because they rarely lose two in a row. But we have something to fight for too after our display," he said.

"The only positive for us is we have a quick turnaround for this next game and we need to come out firing because if we don't we'll be looking down a big defeat."
