Hull Stingrays have signed Zach Hervato for the new season.
The 23-year-old native of Stittsville, Ontario, spent last year in the second division in France with Neuilly-sur-Marne, posting 11 points (six goals and five assists) in 19 regular-season games.
He then registered eight points (seven goals and one assist) from six play-off matches.
Hervato had three years in the Central Junior Hockey League with Kanata Stallions and Smiths Fall Bears, totalling 153 points (72 goals and 81 assists) in 178 games.
Rapid Solicitors Stingrays coach Omar Pacha said: "Zach is a solid two-way forward. He is intense and he finishes his checks. He is 5ft 8in but plays like someone 6ft 1in.
"Zach also has a lot of speed. He will be one of the quicker guys on the team. He is not afraid to get to the dirty areas and he plays well in his own end.
"Last year did not go too well with his coach and he also had an injury but he had a really good end to the season and had a point a game and then he dominated the play-offs.
"Zach is just the kind of two-way forward I have been looking for and I think he will be a really good asset for us."
