ARMED police responded to reports of a man carrying a samurai sword in the Beverley Road area of Hull. Humberside Police said two men had been arrested "without incident".
A police spokesman said the force wanted to reassure members of the public.
He said: "We had a message from a member of the public to say she had seen two men carrying a samurai sword."
He said armed police were called at around 2.40pm on Saturday because the threat to the public was unknown.
The incident happened on Beverley Road opposite the Jet filling station.
The police spokesman added: "The first thing we wanted to do was to reassure the public. There were a lot of people watching and we wanted to let them know it had passed without incident."
