Hull KR's Adam Walker loving every minute of new life at Craven Park

ROVERS prop Adam Walker admits he is loving every minute of his first pre-season at Craven Park.

The 21-year-old, who joined the Robins from Huddersfield for an undisclosed fee, could often be seen with a smile on his face at the club's Tenerife training camp.

And although he's already enjoyed a brief taste of Super League with the Giants, Walker wants 2013 to be his breakthrough campaign.

"I'm really enjoying myself because, at times, it's a really good laugh out on the training pitch," he told the Mail.

"The other players have made it very easy for me to settle in.

"The squad is looking good and is coming together really well.

"My goals are to make sure I give myself the best chance of playing as many matches as I can. I want to play more games in Super League. Hopefully, I can play every game if possible."

During the two months he's been at Rovers, Walker believes the vibe is better than the one experienced at the Galpharm Stadium.

With a three-year deal under his belt and a point to prove, he is desperate to build on that and justify the faith shown in him by coach Craig Sandercock.

"Sandy was impressed with what he saw from me last season and it's always a good start when the coach is impressed," he said.

"It's also a lot more of a tight bond here than it was at Huddersfield. I already feel tighter to the rest of the boys.

"You can talk to more of the players here because it is a younger squad and everyone seems to get on better with each other."

On the club's recent warm-weather training camp, Walker showed reputations count for nothing to him as he dumped new stand-off Travis Burns on the ground with a text-book tackle.

Whilst Burns wondered what had hit him, his new team-mate simply gave him a look to say he was only doing his job.

"It's what I have to do," said Walker when asked about his intensity at training.

"We all have to get stuck in and make tackles like that, even the backs.

"I had to give Travis that tackle and he wasn't happy with it at first.

"But tackling has to be the same in training as it is in matches. We have to prepare the same.

"I want to stand out and show what I can do."
