Hull City recorded one of the best results in their history today with a 3 -1 victory over high-flying Liverpool.
The win was the first by Hull City over the Merseyside giants and sparked delight for fans across Hull and beyond.
It also helped put aside the increasingly bitter split between club owner Assem Allam and fans opposed to his controversial rebranding a> of the club as the Hull Tigers.
City had gone into the game with second place Liverpool, who they hadn't beaten in 17 attempts, as rank outsiders after a poor recent run of results and a slip-up against lowly Crystal Palace last weekend.
But a battling and energetic performance secured three points which put City 10th in the Premier League as the season approaches the half-way mark.
After the game manager Steve Bruce said he was delighted with the result.
Bruce said: "It's a marvellous result for us and I'm delighted for the players.
"Today, they showed a fantastic hunger and appetite for it. In the second half in particular, we thoroughly deserved it as we took the ball better. We had as much possession as what Liverpool had and going forward, that's the way we've got to be.
"When you take a team up from the Championship and you have a bad run of games, that belief starts to wain and you lose confidence very quickly. Big players, big teams, don't lose it that quickly.
"They dust themselves down and adapt to it and that's the difference. We have let ourselves down once in 14 games, but today, everyone's gone home happy and I hope they've all enjoyed it.
