HULL CITY manager Steve Bruce has promised to talk to club owner Assem Allam over an increasingly bitter dispute with fans over his Hull Tigers rebrand. Bruce, speaking after City's historic 3-1 victory over Liverpool at the KC Stadium, said the current stand-off couldn't continue. He said it was important that fans remembered how important Mr Allam and his investment in the club had been, thought to be between £60 and £70 million. But he said he understood fans opposed to his plan to rename Hull City the Hull Tigers. He said: "Knowing Mr Allam, I think something must have been misconstrued there, because it isn't great reading, I have to say," Bruce said. "I will say to the supporters, I can fully understand the history and the tradition, and I don't think that's where the owner gets it. "He thinks, going forward, that's the best way forward, and I don't think he quite grasps of what Hull City means to them. "We can't let it drag on. Let's be fair, he's put £70m of his own money into Hull Cuty. Without him, there wouldn't be one as the club would be in dire straits. "Not many people out there would buy Hull City and have the debt what he has occurred. He needs more pats on the back, but certainly, I'm going to try and intervene if I possibly can, and we can't let it fester. "We need everybody in the right direction and the one thing we did today was create a fantastic atmosphere. We need every week to be like that. "I think we have got to find a solution and the way forward with it, because I don't think he quite understands that all of a sudden we are on every media outlet first about the name change. "We have got to try, if we possibly can, draw a line under it and move on."
