FORWARD Jereme Tendler admits Hull Stingrays need "a dirty win" to get their season back on track.

Stingrays have slumped to the foot of the Elite League, two points adrift of Edinburgh Capitals, tonight's visitors to Hull Arena.

In a run of eight consecutive defeats, Stingrays have picked up just one point – from Sunday's 2-1 overtime defeat in Cardiff.

And Tendler says it's time Stingrays found a way to win, particularly as Edinburgh are also in the Gardiner Conference.

He said: "We need a dirty win, whether that's on the road or at home.

"We're not playing bad hockey, we're just not putting a win together. We have to find a way, something has to change."

Tonight's clash in the fifth between the teams this season.

Both sides have two wins tucked away in their lockers, and each time it's the hosts who have come out on top.

And Tendler remains confident the Rapid Solicitors Stingrays can complete a hat-trick of victories.

"It's a Conference game so every game is important, we can't lose in our Conference," he said.

"We have to battle right to the bitter end and for the full 60 minutes against teams in our division.

"We've done it before, there's no reason why we can't do it again."

Tendler bases his confidence on the fact he believes Stingrays have not been playing badly, despite a losing run stretching back to November 25.

He points out their poor run has coincided with a string of games against the big-budget top-four clubs of Nottingham, Belfast, Sheffield and Cardiff.

"We haven't been playing that badly," said Tendler, who notched Stingrays' goal in Cardiff.

"We have been playing the top teams like Sheffield, Belfast and Nottingham.

"We are losing but we aren't getting blown away. It's been 3-1, 3-1, 4-2 and 2-1.

"You look at other teams, they get blown away.

"We have a couple of mental breakdowns and it's teams that are too good for us to do that. They have 14 players who can score 20-plus goals, they have so many threats on the ice."
