Hull KR vice-chairman Rob Crossland insists the club will continue making steady progress by running it 'with our heads and not our hearts'.
The Robins enjoyed success in their early Super League seasons – finishing as high as fourth in 2009 – as the club spent heavily on overseas stars and outbid rival clubs.
However, having tightened purse strings in recent seasons, operating below the salary cap and focusing on developing young local talent, Rovers have been forced to tough it out in Super League.
Despite having a squad with less depth and experience than many rivals, KR finished in the play-off spots this season, and having started the season with 'real fears' over their future, Crossland says he can now see bright days ahead.
"We started the year not being able to invest in the club, simply a case of surviving cash flow issues," Crossland admitted.
"We started a financial review earlier in the year and believe that the budgets for 2014 will allow us once again to be competitive.
"We are, however, being more stringent with managing those and so the improvements in football support will be better than we have had but modest in comparison to others.
"We're simply making better business decisions and being more professional; more head less heart."
KR have signed a four-year deal with Australian-baseed FI-TA Sportswear. They will produce the club's playing and training kits and and an extensive range of retail merchandise.
