Michael Dobson: 'My days at Hull KR are full of happy memories'

DEPARTING hero Michael Dobson says he won't let his Hull KR side's 46-10 play-off defeat at St Helens spoil an "unforgettable" spell at MS3 Craven Park.

Dobson saw the curtain come down on a superb five-and-a-half years at the Robins in disappointing style on Saturday evening.

But leaving the field at Langtree Park to chants and applause from around 2,500 travelling KR supporters, the Aussie scrum-half was visibly moved as he waved farewell, and said afterwards he will only take good memories with him.

"It was awesome to get a reception like that," Dobson told the Mail.

"The fans have been absolutely outstanding to me and to get the send-off that I got was very special.

"I'm sad to leave the club, I love all the boys and everyone associated with the club. It's part of my heart now and it's disappointing to end like this, but I won't let this game put a dampener on what has been a great five-and-a-half years at the club.

"I want to thank every one of the fans, not just for the reception I got, but for their support in my time here.

"They've been awesome to me and made my time at Rovers that little bit extra special. I'm going to be very sad to leave."

Although Dobson tried his hardest to get the Robins going from the first whistle, his influence waned as Saints starved the red and whites of possession.

"We got the first points on the board like we wanted to do, but we didn't complete a set for about a 15-minute period," Dobson said.

"I think they had the ball for seven or eight minutes straight and a good side like Saints will punish you and score points if you let them have it for that long.

"They got on a roll and we couldn't turn the tide."
