STEVE Bruce has revealed Hull City's deadline-day signing Gedo is yet to return to England as he anxiously waits on a new visa to be issued in Dubai.
Gedo completed a move back to the KC Stadium last week when agreeing a season-long loan from Egyptian giants Al-Ahly.
A fresh visa is required before Gedo can return from his native Egypt but a state of emergency in the country's capital Cairo has delayed its issue.
According to Bruce, the British Embassy is now dealing with visa applications from nearby Dubai and Gedo has travelled there in a bid to free himself of the red tape.
Gedo's lack of fitness meant he was never in contention for tomorrow's clash with Cardiff at the KC, but City remain uncertain when he will be free to team up with the Tigers.
"I'm not entirely sure where we are with the visa. The British Embassy is apparently where a lot of the trouble is and is only open for two days a week," said Bruce.
"They're sending the visas off to Dubai. He's trying desperately to get sorted, bless him, but he's still not in the country. You're not allowed in without it.
"Last I heard he was trying to get to Dubai to speed things up but it's not been easy."
Gedo became City's 11th and final signing of the summer on deadline day when agreeing to a reunion with the club he helped fire to promotion last season.
The Egypt international scored five goals in his first six appearances for the Tigers and only saw his impact tail off when aggravating a long-standing foot injury.
Surgery over the summer and the ensuing rehabilitation was all overseen by City's medical team but four months out of action leaves him with much to do before he is considered for a Premier League debut.
Next weekend's trip to Newcastle and the Capital One Cup date with Huddersfield could both come too soon even if he makes a scheduled return to full training in seven days, pointing towards the home game with West Ham on September 28 as a realistic goal.
Bruce added: "He's still going to be a few weeks away but he's making good progress. I would hope he's joining in with the group by the end of next week."
