HULL City's reserves got their season up and running this afternoon with a 4-0 win at Doncaster Rovers, thanks to some goal-scoring help from two trialists.
With former Arsenal striker Conor Henderson and ex-Sheffield Wednesday hitman Matthew Fletcher in their line-up, City cantered to victory at the Keepmoat Stadium.
First-half goals from Fletcher, a header from a Sam Topliss cross after a good burst down the wing from Matty Dixon, and a low curling free-kick from Henderson gave the Tigers a deserved 2-0 lead at half-time.
Looking assured at the back thanks to the presence of Abdoulaye Faye, City started brightly after the break and Nick Proschwitz claimed to have made it 3-0 from a tight angle claims, although it looked like an own-goal.
Faye was withdrawn after a 63-minute run out, but City rubbed salt into Donny's wounds with a fourth goal as Fletcher fired in his second to complete the rout following a neat throughball from James Armstrong.
