Freedom Festival: Quick guide to events on Saturday, September 7, 2013

An at-a-glance guide to events at Hull's Freedom Festival 2013 on Saturday, September 7, 2013, featuring The 1975 and Theme Park, and Transe Express. To download a programme and map, click here.MAIN EVENTS:The 1975 are one of the biggest bands in Britain right now having launched their debut album this week. They headline on the Pier Stage at 10pm. Get there early and enjoy indie-funksters Theme Park too (8.45pm). Meanwhile, a spectacular street theatre procession by French group Transe Express, promises to be one of the must-see moments of the festival. Called Les Tambours De La Muerte (The Drums of Death) and featuring dance, fire and "mischief", the free performance, at Humber Quays at 9pm, pays tribute to the Mexican "Day of the Dead" festival.MUSIC:Local bands will showcase their sounds on stages dotted around the Fruit Market area, from 11am till late. There's roots and world music on the Yellow Bus stage throughout the day, including Mobo award-winning hip-hop star Akala (7.45pm).ART:Ziggy, an exhibition of photographs by Peter Hardy, including many of David Bowie, at the Museum of Club Culture, Humber Street, is open till late. Plus, workshops and markets throughout the day.THEATRE:Drunken Nights, at Ruscadors, at 6pm. Jumpers For Goalposts, at Hull Truck Theatre, at 7.45pm. DANCE: Spectacular dance routines throughout the day on the Dance Stage, culminating in the incredible, gravity-defying acrobatics of Tanzanian trio The Black Eagles', by the Marina, at 7.30pm. Acclaimed BalletLorent at Hull City Hall at 8pm. COMEDY: Hull's own stand-up sensation Lucy Beaumont, with support from Duncan Oakley, Seymour Mace and Jamie Sutherland, in the Big Top, Humber Street (east) from 9pm (ticketed). FAMILY:Queen's Gardens will feature family entertainment, including children's theatre shows, art workshops, "Pimp your Bike", pavement drawings, costumed walkabouts,and much more, until 6pm. Meanwhile, at the Big Top in Humber Street, Baby Loves Disco (ticketed) is a daytime dance party for children aged up to seven, from 12.30pm-2.30pm.(The majority of events, including music stages, are free.
