Hull KR captain Michael Dobson has crowned his final season at Rovers by being named Player of the Year.

The 27-year-old picked up the award at the club's presentation night at Willerby Manor.

Dobson leaves Rovers at the end of the season to join NRL side Newcastle Knights and the award is a fitting tribute to the talisman, who has served Rovers with honour and distinction since signing in May 2008 as a replacement for then skipper James Webster.

Since then, Dobson has carried the team to wins with his all-round game and his superb goal-kicking.

Dobson, who reached his 150th appearance for the Robins in the recent derby defeat, has scored 190 points this season, with six tries and 83 goals.

He also has 25 assists, which is third only to Castleford's Rangi Chase and Huddersfield's Danny Brough.

Last weekend, Dobson showed his fighting qualities in the 36-22 defeat to Widnes.

In the second half, minutes after half-back partner Travis Burns broke his arm, Dobson went over on his ankle.

He should have gone off, but resisted the call from the sideline and continued, hoping to lead his side to victory.

Dobson needed a scan to find out the extent of the damage and remains a doubt for this weekend's home game against London.

Rovers need their Player of the Year to be fit if they are to progress in the play-offs.

Josh Hodgson capped another impressive season by being named Players' Player of the Year.

The hooker has been used in the back row at times this season for Craig Sandercock's side.

The versatile player has scored eight tries and is second in the team with 24 offloads.

The only player with more offloads is Adam Walker, who has 35.

The 22-year-old was named Rovers' Young Player of the Year after a solid first season at MS3 Craven Park.

He is third on the tackle count this season with an average of 20.9 tackles a game.

Walker joined the Robins from Huddersfield in the off-season and has developed well under Sandercock's coaching.

Sandercock has chosen to start Walker in 21 of his 24 matches this season knowing he can help set a marker for the props replacing him off the bench.

There is plenty more to come from Walker who has a solid foundation to build on from his first season at the Robins.
