A MISCHIEVOUS cat spent 14 hours trapped under floorboards and had to be rescued by firefighters and the RSPCA.

Six-year-old Fluffy has always had a habit for seeking out hiding places and panicked owner Michelle Fieldsend when she managed to squeeze underneath the kitchen floor.

With partner Adrian, Michelle tried to coax her cat out for five hours but had no luck.

In desperation she called the fire service, which cut a hole for Fluffy to get through. But the cat still refused to budge until an RSPCA officer arrived to lure her out.

"Whenever we've moved into a new house she's always tried to find places where she's not allowed," said Michelle. "I've no idea why she went in there. She likes to crawl into places. She does what she wants."

Fluffy had been sniffing around the kitchen units days before her escapade at the couple's flat in Plane Street, west Hull.

They put an old litter tray containing DVD cases and a laptop over a gap to stop her getting through.

But undeterred, Fluffy somehow pushed them out of the way.

She is known around the house for her skilful paws, often opening drawers beneath the couple's bed and climbing inside.

They last saw Fluffy early in the morning in their bedroom.

"She came bouncing round our bedroom, jumping on the top of the TV and the wardrobe," said Michelle, 31.

"Next morning I was still in bed and my partner got up first and shouted that the cat had gone.

"I shot out of bed, put my dressing gown on and we took off a panel on the kitchen unit. I took my phone out, turned it upside down and took a picture through the hole, hoping she would be in there. That's when I saw her face."

After Fluffy was eventually freed, the couple blocked up the hole.

Michelle thanked the firefighters and RSPCA for their efforts.

It has not stopped Fluffy from trying to get back in again.

"She keeps going back to the same spot but because we put the panel back on she can't get in," Michelle said.

"She's looking for other places to hide but it's not going to work.

"She knows she's done wrong. She's been very affectionate and now she's doing what she always does, eating and sleeping."
