A BURGLARY victim from Hull received a text message taunting him about the raid hours later.
Prolific burglar David Fuller, 26, went on a crime spree just weeks after being released from prison.
He has pleaded guilty to four counts of burglary between August 3 and August 15 after breaking into homes across Hull, including in Brooklyn Street and Woodlands Road.
Fuller stole £1,400, a sat-nav and a bottle of alcohol from one property.
Hours later his victim received a text, saying: "Ha ha we are laughing, £1,400."
Prosecuting, Stephen Welch, said Fuller had a string of previous burglary convictions dating back to 2003 and was wearing an electronic tag so police could monitor his whereabouts after being released from a four-year jail sentence on July 19.
He told Hull Crown Court: "The defendant entered the property by the front, ground-floor window.
"The complainant returned and saw the defendant in his home. He attempted to escape by the back door and climbing out of the ground-floor window.
"There was a struggle and both men ended up on the floor.
"The victim subsequently received a text message, which read: 'Ha ha we are laughing, £1,400'.
"The victim thinks this was from someone involved in the burglary because he hadn't shared what had happened with anyone."
Fuller also burgled two properties in Brooklyn Street on August 3 and August 7.
He stole jewellery and electrical goods from one and cash, a woman's handbag and two mobile phones from the other.
He was caught on August 15 when two PCSOs passing a home in Woodlands Road disturbed Fuller stealing a purple laptop from the property.
He dumped the computer and fled, but was arrested soon after in Albert Avenue.
Mitigating, Harold Bloomfield said Fuller, who has a history of heroin, cannabis and alcohol abuse, had been released from prison with £46 and had fallen back into his old crowd.
He said: "He made an application for benefits but sadly those benefits did not materialise for three-and-a-half weeks.
"In the meantime, he was lead into a routine of alcohol and heroin and sadly these offences occurred."
The Honorary Recorder of Hull and East Riding, Judge Michael Mettyear, told Fuller: "Here you are once again for burglary.
"It is a miserable offence. People get terribly upset by it and some never recover.
"But you have heard it all before and it doesn't make any difference.
"You seem determined to waste your life by spending more and more time inside."
Judge Mettyear jailed Fuller for four years.
