Hull FC centre Joe Arundel has today ruled himself out of the Challenge Cup final.
Arundel took to Twitter this morning to confirm what many had suspected, that he will miss out on playing against Wigan at Wembley after fracturing his hand in last week's win over Salford City Reds.
Arundel said: "To all people asking I fractured my hand Friday and will be getting an op today to fix it. Thanks for all the support! #Gutted"
Arundel's absence from the squad appears to open the door even further for Ben Crooks to make a shock return to the side in the cup final.
As reported in today's Mail, Crooks has made a late bid to earn a place in Peter Gentle's side having returned to training this week.
The centre was set to be assessed again today having been closely monitored yesterday.
Hull will officially announce their 19-man squad for the game tomorrow afternoon.
