People watched from Withernsea sea wall as members of the military prepared to blow up an "unexploded bomb".
But the spectators were denied an exciting conclusion to the drama after the suspicious object turned out the be a piece of rusted metal. The coastguard and bomb disposal experts were called at 6.30pm by a member of the public. They waited for the tide to go out and prepared to detonate a controlled explosion. However, when the team had a chance to examine the "bomb" they concluded it was a false alarm.↧
