HULL City fans could get to watch their team on TV or online if a deal can be struck between KC and BT.

The Mail can reveal communications provider KC is in talks with BT over the possibility of offering its customers live Tigers coverage.

According to KC, talks have been ongoing for some time between the two firms about the deal that will mean the Hull-based company will be able to offer customers BT's sport channels as part of their package.

Gary Young, KC's director of consumer and business services, said: "We've been in discussions with BT for some months about the possibility of offering its BT Sport content to our customers.

"We'll keep customers informed of any news about this as it happens."

The announcement comes after it was revealed on Thursday that Virgin Media has struck a three- year deal with BT to make its new sport channels available to its subscribers.

Although talks are at an advanced stage, there are both financial and technical hurdles to negotiate in order for a deal to be struck.

Should an agreement be reached, customers will be able to either watch football live over the internet or on their TVs if they pay for a broadband package or KC's YouView box.

Hull City's return to the Premier League was secured on the final day of the season, live on Sky Sports.

The Tigers' first game of the new season against Chelsea will also be played in front of the TV cameras at Stamford Bridge.

In what is already a special season for the black and amber fans, the club says the possible deal will be another reason for its supporters to be excited.

Nick Thompson, managing director of Hull City, said the news is fantastic for everyone associated with the club.

"It is such a big season for the club, the city and everyone in the region," he said.

"It's fantastic that KC is reaching out to BT to try to strike a deal and bring the service to people within Hull postcodes. I wholeheartedly applaud it.

"It will give fans the opportunity to enjoy the same services as other people up and down the country and allow them to be a part of this incredible journey in the Premier League."

Pub landlords in Hull that show live football as part of Sky Sports say the deal will not keep punters away.

The owners of the revamped Pearsons Bar, who also own Garbutts, have invested thousands of pounds in kiting the pub out with a 60in LED TV and five other screens to show Sky Sports.

Tom Thorpe, manager at Garbutts, said: "Hopefully, Hull City being back in the Premier League will attract more people.

"There's always going to be a market for watching football in the pub so I don't think the KC-BT deal will make much of a difference to us.

"Watching sport in the pub is great. You get a good atmosphere and the chance to have some food and drink and not worry about anything."
