A Hull girl hoping to find love is appearing in ITV's hit show Girlfriends tonight. Ruby Perry, 20, will be watched by thousands of viewers as she looks to find "The One" in the ITV2 programme. The show, produced by Studio Lambert, follows three single women of different life experiences and backgrounds who are looking for love. Ruby, of Bransholme, decided to take part in the show to meet new people. She said: "I'd never considered doing anything like this before, but I was in Manchester and was approached by the team behind the programme, asking if I was interested in appearing on the show. "I was a bit sceptical at first, but decided to give it a go. "It is a fantastic show." Ruby, and her two fellow contestants Mellissa, 26, and Sophia, 23, will have to select men from, who they would like to date, but viewers will have to wait and see if the men feel the same way about the girls. Each week, the programme will follow the three singletons as they embark on a series of dating scenarios with their potential suitors. The series will follow their preparations, nerves and trepidation as they get to know more about the men they have chosen. Although Ruby cannot give much away about how the show ends, she promises lots of excitement ahead for viewers. She said: "I have had the best time of my life. "I knew me and the other girls would get on but now I feel like I have known them for years. "They are my best friends." The former Beverley High School and Park Street College Art pupil has spent the past 12 months travelling around the world, but will be returning to her home town to concentrate on her love of fine art and make-up. Speaking about her dream partner, she said: "The main thing I'm looking for in my ideal man is someone who can be my friend as well as my boyfriend. "Someone I enjoy spending all my time with and I can be completely myself around them." Ruby will be watching her television debut with her family and friends when the show airs on ITV2 at 9pm.Serious take on matchmaking show GIRLFRIENDS is presented by Emma Willis. Emma, who presents Big Brother and has a regular slot on This Morning, is looking forward to the second series of the show. She said: "Girlfriends is a dating show but not in the same vein as Blind Date or Take Me Out, which are kind of very fun and light-hearted. "Girlfriends is more of a serious dating show for people who genuinely want to find someone to be with, whether that be a long-term partner or somebody they eventually want to marry." "We take three girls and we plant them in a house together, and they meet a hundred men over the course of two weeks. "It's almost like a speed dating process but it doesn't have to be quick, a guy can spend between five minutes or two hours chatting depending on how much he has got to say, questions he has got to ask and whether there is a spark with anybody. From the one hundred guys they each pick six men and then over a process of days they whittle it down until they hopefully find 'the one'."
