A car hit two parked cars and then ploughed into a house in a quiet west Hull street this morning.
Neighbours in Parkfield Drive said "the whole street came out" after the four-wheel drive vehicle eventually came to a halt in an elderly woman's front garden.
The driver damaged a Renault Clio and Ford Focus CMax before smashing into the front wall of the home at about 4.15am.
Emergency services rushed to the street off Anlaby Road and took the driver to Hull Royal Infirmary.
His family said he had suffered a problem with his leg when he lost control of the car. He is now at home recovering.
The homeowner, an elderly woman, was woken by the noise and neighbours knocking on her door.
Although she did not want to not to be named, she told the Mail: "I was just shaking and didn't know what had happened outside of my house.
"I didn't speak to the man because he was taken to hospital but I'm just glad it wasn't someone who had stolen a car.
"The fire service have helped to secure the front bay window and brick wall and my family are helping to sort things out."
Family members could be seen sweeping up debris in the front room and garden as a pile of bricks remained under the broken bay window.
Firefighters had to use props to shore up the window and make it safe.Updated 11.45am.
