JOE Arundel has called on Hull FC to maintain the high intensity of their last two performances to ensure they lift their derby performance.
The 21-year-old has returned to the side as the Black and Whites have breathed new life into their season with back-to-back wins.
Success over Warrington booked a place in the Challenge Cup final, and Friday's 72-10 thrashing of Widnes at the KC Stadium has now brought local rivals Hull KR back within sight.
And Arundel, a try-scorer in the rout over the Vikings, wants Hull to kick-on, firstly by producing their best derby display of the season.
"When we play Hull KR they always come out wanting to beat us. It will be a full force game," Arundel told the Mail.
"In the last two derbies we have struggled. We scraped through at the Magic Weekend, so we want to put in a good performance against them."
For Arundel, a return to the side at the expense of the injured Ben Crooks has come at the perfect time, with just two games now remaining until FC walk out at Wembley against the Wigan Warriors.
Having struggled in early season after his move from Castleford, Arundel was sent out to play for York on a dual registration, before returning to Hull only to then miss out again through injury.
He admits it has been frustrating at times, but feels he is now ready to show his best form at just the right time.
"Hopefully I will be able to get some games back to back now," he said,
"I started the season off pretty poorly, then I started to get a bit of form but then unluckily got injured.
"Unfortunately for Ben his injury has created an opportunity for me and hopefully I can get some games together and reach the form I want to be achieving.
"Overall, in the last two years I have only played about 12 games of rugby league so it makes a big difference compared to when you are playing week in week out.
"It's just getting back into the swing of things and getting game time in.
"That little spell at York did help me to get a bit of confidence back in my shoulder and get a bit of game time, and then when I came back I put nine games in and I thought I showed a bit of form. Now I want to push on and show what I can do."
