A MAN was headbutted in an unprovoked attack at Paragon Interchange in Hull.
Police are appealing for help after the 49-year-old man was assaulted at 5.45pm last Saturday.
A man was walking through the bus station shouting at passengers and waving his arms around.
He then approached the victim and headbutted him with such force the victim fell to the ground.
British Transport Police (BTP) officers have released images of a man they wish to speak to in connection with the assault.
PC Kristene Mikkonen, the investigating officer, said: "Around 5.45pm, a man was walking through the bus station, gesturing and shouting at members of the public.
"He then approached the victim, a 49-year-old man from Hull and headbutted him. He fell to the ground and hurt his lip.
"Members of the public attempted to intervene and detain the man, however he made off towards the city centre."
Officers are following several lines of enquiry into the assault and have released images of a man they wish to question.
The CCTV images show a black man walking through the bus station wearing white trainers, a black top and dark grey jogging bottoms.
He also has a light grey jumper tied around his shoulders.
PC Mikkonen said: "This appears to be a nasty, unprovoked attack on the victim who, thankfully, wasn't seriously injured as a result.
"I would really urge anyone who recognises the man pictured, or knows his whereabouts, to get in touch with us."
Dave Hatfield, station manager for Hull, said First TransPennine Express (FTPE) is committed to ensuring passengers are kept safe while making their journey – and the majority travel without any issues.
Mr Hatfield said: "Instances of antisocial behaviour at Hull are rare and we are working with the British Transport Police to try to prevent such situations from arising.
"Dealing with disruptive individuals is one way in which FTPE is helping to ensure passengers are kept safe and antisocial behaviour will not be tolerated.
"In fact, instances of antisocial behaviour have decreased at Paragon Station due to the antisocial behaviour orders that are in place.
"These are put in place to make sure those who cause problems for other passengers are kept away from the station premises, as well as other areas of the city centre.
"Not only that, another preventive measure is CCTV, which is in place throughout the station building."
