Firefighters in the region have seen a drop in handcuff-related call-outs, unlike their colleagues in London, who have seen an increase since the publication of erotic novel Fifty Shades Of Grey.
The London Fire Brigade said the number of people embarrassingly stuck had risen since the novel was published.
But in the area covered by Humberside Fire and Rescue Service, the number of people freed from handcuffs has actually fallen from a high of eight in 2009 to 2010, down to four from 2012 to 2013 and two so far in the current reporting period.
Allen Cunningham, of Humberside Fire and Rescue Service's community safety team, said: "As the figures suggest, we do, on occasion, get call-outs of this nature and the fire service is obviously here to help anybody in a difficult situation.
"We are certainly able to assist some embarrassed couples."
Anyone experimenting should keep keys to hand and make sure they work before using handcuffs, a service spokesman said.
