An awareness campaign is being launched to reduce drink-related crime.

Police say they see an increase in antisocial behaviour and violence over bank holidays, particularly if the weather is good.

A multi-agency campaign called Think B4 U Drink is running to educate people about the dangers of alcohol.

Inspector David Braysmith, who is responsible for licensing matters and reducing violent crime, said: "We want everyone to enjoy themselves responsibly and safely.

"We know that whilst most people drink responsibly, there is a small minority that does not.

"Alcohol can dramatically change someone's behaviour which often results in them doing something they may not do while sober."

Insp Braysmith said people should think about the consequences before starting a night out, and that over-indulging could lead to injury, ill health or even a criminal record.
