E HULL: Stephen Larard, the High Sheriff of the East Riding, will visit a drug and alcohol rehabilitation centre today.
Mr Larard will see first hand the work being done at RAPt The Bridges in Holderness Road, east Hull.
He described it as a "splendid opportunity" to meet clients and staff at the facility, which has been running for almost ten years.
The Bridges is the only residential rehabilitation unit in the country that deals with offenders.
It was opened in 2004 and has nine bed-sits and eight self-contained flats.
Up to 70 per cent of men who stay in the unit, often for up to 12 weeks, do not relapse within the first year of completing the programme.

BRANSHOLME: Police are appealing for help locating a couple who witnessed a teenager indecently exposing himself.
At 1.45pm on Wednesday, July 24, a woman was walking close to the South Park play area in Dorchester Road when she saw the boy, described as about 16 years old.
The boy apologised to the woman and she walked away, but he then made an attempt to follow her.
The woman then approached a couple who were also walking around the play area.
Police have not been able to identify the couple and would like to speak to them as they may have witnessed something that could help with the investigation.
Anyone with details should call Humberside Police on 101.
