GOOLE: Spanners are at the ready for when students return to the town's high school in September to build their very own aeroplane.
The fuselage and tail, which have been built to order at a specialist company in Norfolk, are to be delivered in time for the new academic year and then it will be chocks away for a group of about 60 pupils who are lined up to work on the project.
Once assembled, the fully operational two seater bi-plane will be used to offer flying lessons to students and members of the public from its eventual home at Breighton Airfield.
The Spirit of Goole project has cost about £50,000, with various fundraising events taking place.
Donations can be made via the www.thespiritofgoole.co.uk website.
EAST YORKS: A Bishop Burton horticultural student has created a design to transform the outdoor space at Theatre Royal York into a garden.
Lee Goulding's design was chosen by the theatre's front of house manager, Kaeli Wilshart.
Lee, who has just completed his Level 3 diploma, visited the theatre to do an on-site survey with course manager, Dr Annette Parkes.
The design for the site will incorporate a vegetable plot, which will be available for the local community to enjoy and forage from. It will also provide café seating and space for outdoor performances, such as The Legend Of King Arthur this summer, where the audience will participate in jousting and falconry in the garden.
Lee said: "This was an exciting opportunity and I feel privileged to develop my designs on such a prestigious, historic theatre."
