A BURGLAR targeted pubs and shops in a crime spree that cost businesses in Beverley thousands of pounds.
Paul Younger, 39, even stole money from charity boxes during his crime spree.
He was caught on CCTV trying to sell an antique clock stolen in a smash and grab raid at Time And Motion in Beverley on April 3.
The manager of the store, who was alerted by the shop alarm, discovered the front window had been smashed and a clock and two candelabras worth £1,225 were stolen.
The next day, Younger was captured on CCTV trying to sell the items to a shop in Bridlington.
Days later, he burgled Hodgson's Pub in Beverley by breaking a window, stealing money from the tills, emptying the money from the charity boxes and stealing a large quantity of spirits.
Detectives found his blood at the scene.
Younger also caused criminal damage at the White Horse Pub, also known as Nellies, in the town. Staff at the pub discovered someone had tried to disable the burglar alarm.
Prosecutor Bernard Gateshill said: "The alarm had sounded at the pub and staff discovered an alarm sensor in one of the rooms of the premises had been removed, leaving the wires dangling and it was subsequently found in the toilet area.
"CCTV footage was examined and it could clearly be seen that the defendant was the one responsible for damaging the sensor.
"Quite clearly, the prosecution say he had an intention to return later and attack these premises."
Younger, who committed his first burglary in 1993, pleaded guilty at Hull Crown Court to handling stolen goods, burglary and criminal damage.
Jailing him for 18 months, Judge Mark Bury said: "The burglary at Hodgson's Pub was serious.
"It was in the early hours of the morning, an amount of damage was caused and a number of items of property were stolen, including money from the till and charity boxes, which were emptied."
