ROBERT Koren believes Hull City are now reaping the benefits of his blossoming link-up with Stephen Quinn.
Brought to the KC Stadium by manager Steve Bruce at the start of the season, Quinn's impact has been clear to see with a string of impressive displays helping the Tigers to fourth spot in the Championship.
Bringing a high tempo to the midfield engine room, his attacking energy has helped Koren get back amongst the goals in recent weeks.
The City skipper's opening goal in the 2-0 weekend win over Huddersfield came courtesy of a Quinn cross and the 26-year-old's impact has not gone unnoticed.
Koren told the Mail: "Quinny is a top, top player.
"He's keeping the ball all the time and making sure his passing is always right.
"He's always picking the right pass and I'm enjoying working alongside him.
"We all know that a lot of last season I was playing in behind the striker and that brought the best out of me.
"I've always been a midfield player that can play all around so it's up to the manager where he wants to play me."
With five goals already to his name at just over the halfway stage in the campaign, Koren is again on course to reach double figures.
The 32-year-old managed that feat last season when finishing as the club's second top scorer on ten goals, but City eventually ran out of steam in the race for a play-off place.
Although he is glad to be in goal-scoring form again, Koren would rather put the team's aspirations ahead of any personal targets.
"The most important thing will always be making sure the club stays in the top six and looks to reach the top two places," he added.
"We're doing well at the moment but we have to wait until the end of the season before we know how far we have come.
"We have to make sure we at least get into the top six."
