Peter Gentle blasts players as 'brain dead' after Hull FC go down 19-12 at Bradford

HULL FC coach Peter Gentle described his players as 'brain dead' after Hull's faltering attack again proved costly in a 19-12 defeat at Bradford Bulls.

Hull went down to a fifth successive Super League loss, with their continued presence in the top eight now hinging on Leeds beating Wakefield in next week's re-arranged fixture between the pair.

Hull again found their defensive resolve, but couldn't find any spark in attack as they crashed to another costly defeat.

"I thought the effort was there, but we were clueless at times in attack and there were too many basic errors," said Gentle.

"We started the game well and we had plenty of ball in the second half, but our heads were the first things to go.

"We were brain dead in what we were doing. It was an opportunity to get our season back on track and we didn't. The cup is a distraction but it is not an excuse for this game.

"If we are not on top of our game one to 17 we struggle to get a win. The effort is there but we just cannot find a way to get a win when we are not at our best. There is still a lot of work to be done."
