HULL KR stand-off Travis Burns has set his sights on securing a home tie in the play-offs – saying he is confident they can hold on to their top-six spot.

Rovers currently sit in sixth spot with six matches to play, and if they stay there, or even climb to fifth, that home tie will be secured.

Burns feels to do that would be a fine reward for the club's fans, who stuck behind them through difficult days earlier in the season.

And he says a home tie would give KR a great chance of making an impact in the knockout stages of the competition.

"We've given ourselves a chance of finishing in the top six. If we do, we'll be right in it as we'd have a home game to start off," Burns told the Mail.

"Our home record has been pretty good with eight wins from 12 in the league.

"We play this game for the fans and our families. We respect our fans and when the chips are down and you hear the roar of our fans, it lifts you to another level.

"We want to repay them with a good end to the season."

The Robins face a tough start to their run-in against three of Super League's top four, as well as a derby against Hull FC at MS3 Craven Park on August 11.

After that they finish with a trip to Widnes and a home game against London on September 8, but Burns' focus is solely on Challenge Cup semi-finalists Warrington tomorrow.

"Warrington are one of the benchmark sides in the competition and they have been for a number of years," Burns added.

"They have won three of the last four Challenge Cups and they were in the Grand Final last season. They will want to go into their semi-final with a win behind them.

"For us, the next four matches are very important to our season.

"We have probably won games in the last two months that people didn't expect us to. Those wins have set our season up nicely, but we need to get some wins from the next four games."

Currently on a five-match winning streak, Rovers will boast their best ever Super League run of results if they complete a double over the Wolves tomorrow.

Burns admits it is something the players have discussed, and says they are keen to achieve that goal.

"We were speaking about the record the other day as it would be nice to make a bit of history for the club," he added.

"It's a great place to be at the moment and I take my hat off to the club for that because people may not have expected us to do as well as we are.

"We've never worried about what other people think and that is why we have done so well in the last two months."

If Rovers are to come away from Warrington with the two points, a lot will depend on how Burns and his half-back partner Michael Dobson perform against the league's second best defence.

And Burns knows the area they have to excel in.

"The kicking game has to be spot on. Michael and I have been working hard on it and that has been the catalyst for why we have won games.

"When you come up against a big pack, you can't give cheap field position away through poor kicks.

"You need to kick deep and long and make them drag the ball out from their own end.

"We can't rest on our laurels if we do get ahead in the game, because Warrington are dangerous enough to make you look silly. We need to make sure if we get in front, we continue doing what we have to get us in that position.

"Against the top teams like Warrington, we have to get off to a fast start. If we don't them we could find ourselves behind on the scoreboard.

"It's hard to drag a team like Warrington back so we need to match them early and get on top of them early. Hopefully, Michael and I can have a good platform to do what we need to do for us to win."
