The attack happened at the junction of Church Street and College Street at around 12.15pm on Wednesday.
A police spokesman said: "A man was driving a purple Ford Fiesta and pulled up at traffic lights behind a Vauxhall Corsa. In front of the Corsa was a silver-coloured Ford Focus ST, the driver of which is alleged to have got out of his car, approached the Fiesta and head-butted the window as well as punching and kicking the panels of the car creating numerous dents."
The man is then said to have returned to his vehicle and driven off. A few minutes before the attack, the Fiesta driver was accused of "cutting up" the Focus. Call police on 101.
