A TEENAGER says he is unlikely to return to Hull after his new motorbike was stolen little over half an hour after he parked it in the city.
David Pacey, 19, said he will stay in the city of his birth for a week in the hope that his CBR 125cc bike is found, but then may never return.
He is visiting his father and stepmother Dave and Helen, from his home in Ipswich.
David's bike was stolen at lunchtime last Tuesday after he parked it up in Nornabell Street, east Hull, to visit his brother Reece.
He returned to find his younger brother Tom's moped was there, but his bike was missing.
David said: "I was absolutely gutted and mortified when I noticed my bike was missing.
"The city itself is fine, it's the minority of people like the scumbag that stole my bike that give the city a bad reputation.
"It is unlikely that I will come through to Hull again. I will wait for dad and Helen to come to Ipswich and visit me when they can get time off work."
The theft scuppered the family's plans, which included a ride out to the Beverley Bike Café and Barton Bike Night.
David said: "I was looking forward to a family bike ride to the Beverley Bikers' Cafe on Tuesday night and we were all supposed to be going to Barton Bike night on Wednesday night.
"We don't get to spend much time together as a family with me living in Ipswich and working full-time, so this was something we were all looking forward to."
Humberside Police are investigating the theft, but in the meantime David's stepmother Helen contacted the Mail in the hope that readers could help.
She said: "I felt I just had to let people know how bad Hull is becoming for crime.
"He was riding his pride and joy and only came up last Sunday.
"I hope the thieves are happy with their new toy. It's sad they cannot or will not understand the pain and suffering they cause by doing things like this.
"He is now stuck in Hull until we can get him back home to Ipswich, at our cost.
"Once back at home, he then has to find a way of paying for alternative transport to and from work, as well as having to continue paying the finance off for the bike.
"His dad feels so bad about this, he is looking at selling his motorbike to get some money to replace his son's bike for him, and on top of this his son also stated that he will never come through to Hull again."
David only got his bike three weeks ago and his grandmother stood as guarantor so he could get finance for it
As his insurance was so high he was only able to afford third party, fire and theft, with an excess of £750.
Humberside Police are investigating the theft and tweeted: "Bright Orange retro #Honda CBR 125 m/c stolen from rear of premises, Holderness Rd, Hull. Info to 101 log 345 of 020713."
