PETER Gentle says his Hull FC players must come together as a team and not a collection of individuals to turn their ailing form around.
Hull face second-placed Huddersfield Giants on Sunday as they bid to address a run of three successive defeats.
Aiming to secure a high enough finish for a home tie in the play-offs, the Black and Whites need to improve on their current seventh placed position.
And ahead of a tough test with the Giants, the Aussie coach has called on his squad to come together as one to get back on track.
"It is a team effort and we have to play for longer periods as a team, we are not coming together as a team at the moment," he said.
"Individually there are periods of the game where we stand up, but the players need to stand up and come together as a team.
"They all want to win, they are not shirking their tasks, but it is the execution."
Five points behind fourth-place Leeds Rhinos, who boast a game in hand, Hull's top-four ambitions seem ended for another season.
Fifth remains a realistic target, however, with only one victory separating the Black and Whites from Catalan Dragons, with Hull KR tied on the same points total as the French side.
"We are not even looking at the table," added Gentle. "We have had three losses so there are more important things to be looking at right now than the table. We have a very decent side to play next and that is where our focus will be this week."
