A HULL static caravan manufacturer has secured its most lucrative contract to date.
Yorkshire Holiday Homes Ltd won a £1m deal with a London investment company – an investment that has matched the manufacturer's existing business.
The deal will see the firm, based in Cornwall Street, supply up to 60 caravans for MHI Ltd to rent in and around London to ease pressure on the council housing shortage.
Yorkshire Holiday Homes managing director Martin Jack said the contract is a "win-win for both companies".
"We are looking forward to working closely with MHI over the coming years," he said.
"This contract couldn't have come at a better time for us.
"It allows us to increase production levels to cater for the substantial increase in orders while creating more permanent jobs, which brings more industry knowledge and experience to our company."
MHI, which is made up of a group of chartered accountants, will site the units on caravan sites across the UK and make them available for rent.
A spokesman for the company said: "We are very excited about working closely with Martin and everyone at Yorkshire Holiday Homes Ltd over the next 18 to 24 months.
"The company's ability to build bespoke homes to meet our customers' specific tastes meant we were keen to secure a supply agreement ever since the company was brought to our attention."
Yorkshire Holiday Homes, which began trading last year, featured in the Mail last month and predicted a turnover of £1.5m before the investment from MHI.
Now, the business is becoming an established name in the industry.
Martin said: "Margins are tight but this new deal means we can increase staff levels without the worry of finding work to keep them in a job.
"The order book is now looking healthier than ever, with a noticeable increase in orders for high- value homes of more than £20,000.
"Since being in the Mail last time, we have been introduced to several other Hull businesses, which now supply us with component parts and services that have made us more efficient and a more rounded company.
"We are now receiving enquiries from all over the UK, with lots of park operators having only recently heard of us.
"We were considering attending the caravan show in Cottingham this year but the order book will not allow us time to produce the demo units that we would require.
"So, we are going to focus on keeping the business steady until next year when we aim to target UK holiday park sales in a big way."
The caravan manufacturer started out in a small 2,500sq ft factory in Beverley before demand meant it had to move to its current 17,000sq ft home in Hull, which is big enough to allow production of up to ten caravans at any one time.
Now, Martin is looking to increase the number of employees on the firm's books.
He has already taken on two new employees but is also confident of creating at least another ten permanent jobs over the next 12 months.
The firm is currently looking to take on a cabinet maker, a furnisher and two joiners.
