HULL City have made fresh approaches to both Celtic and Burnley for top attacking targets Gary Hooper and Charlie Austin.
It comes as the Tigers attempt to push both clubs towards agreeing a deal after weeks of negotiations.
A deal for Hooper is close to being agreed with the Scottish giants, but sources have told the Mail City also yesterday improved the deal on offer to bring Austin to the KC Stadium.
As yet, neither club is to accept the offers made – each thought to be around £4m – or rule it out.
But with City stressing to both Celtic and Burnley that they are only prepared to push one of the two deals to conclusion, they hope to swing the hand of power their way.
The Tigers firm stance on price has seen them bring both Celtic and Burnley back to the table for negotiations despite being well apart on initial valuations.
Both Celtic and Burnley are reluctant to lose out in the long term, given both players are in the final years of their contracts and unlikely to sign new deals.
Whilst Celtic initially suggested a fee of £7m would be needed to prise Hooper away from Parkhead, they have now softened and could accept the Tigers offer today.
Burnley have been looking for at least £5m for Austin, with the Tigers previous offer standing at £3.5m, before being improved yesterday.
Whilst City are desperate to add goals to their ranks, only one major striking signing is expected to come via a transfer fee, with City looking to utilise the loan market for further options. Norwich City striker Grant Holt has been linked with a move to the KC, but no official approach has been made by the Tigers.Have you seen our new sport section?Bookmark hulldailymail.co.uk/sport for the very best and exclusive local content.
