HE MAY only be ten weeks old but Sidney Yardley is preparing for his first starring role.
All eyes will be on the Hull youngster on Saturday when he plays the part of Jesus in Nativity Live!
Nativity Live! will see the city centre packed out with shoppers all clamouring to see the procession of amateur actors playing out the birth of Christ.
Alongside them will be three camels, three sheep and a donkey.
Sidney's mum Lyndsey Holmes, 25, said: "Sidney is playing a starring role and he is only ten weeks old.
"We're going to get lots of pictures and we'll save all the newspaper cuttings so we can tell him all about it when he is older.
"Our family and friends are all going to be in the crowd.
"I didn't realise how big it was going to be but this week I've started to realise."
Lyndsey will be playing the part of Mary in the stable, while her boyfriend Gareth Yardley will be Joseph.
Other actors will play Joseph and a pregnant Mary during the procession from Hull City Hall to Holy Trinity Church.
Holy Trinity's pioneer minister Matt Woodcock organised the event, with the help of Hull City Council.
Lyndsey said: "When I was little, I played an angel and a few animals in nativities in my school, but I've never been Mary before.
"I've never even acted before, but I don't think I have to say much.
"I'll find out at the full dress rehearsal on Thursday."
Lyndsey's boyfriend Gareth, who she lives with in Southcoates Lane, east Hull, will be playing the part of Joseph in the stable outside the church.
Gareth, 31, said: "Our first son, Finley, was christened at Holy Trinity so we got an email from the church when they were holding a children's party there.
"We've been going to Holy Trinity every week for the past few weeks when Matt approached me one day saying he was looking for camels.
"So, when I heard he needed a baby Jesus too, I volunteered Sidney."
But having two young children and playing the part of Joseph hasn't fazed Gareth.
He said: "I'm a fabricator and welder and, to be honest, having two young lads is hard work. Work is a bit of a rest in comparison."
Nativity Live! will be held in the city centre from lunchtime on Saturday.
