HULL City have today confirmed defender James Chester has signed a new three-year deal at the KC Stadium.
It brings to and end long-running negotiations with the 24-year-old, who still had a year remaining on his previous deal, but was attracting interest from Premier League rivals Aston Villa.
Chester's deal follows the signing of Birmingham City defender Curtis Davies yesterday, in a £2.25m three-year deal.
City had already strengthened their defensive ranks with the capture of Wigan's Maynor Figueroa, and are expected to also announce new deals for Liam Rosenior and Paul McShane over the next week.
Chester told the club's official website signing a new deal represented "the perfect situation".
"It's nice to get the paperwork out of the way," said the defender.
"I'm happy here and I've got a great relationship with the rest of the lads. I also enjoy living in this area.
"This is the perfect situation."
