HULL KR forward Jordan Cox admits the Robins are finding form at the perfect time – but has warned only hard work will maintain their good run.
Rovers have won four of their last five Super League games, with successive wins over top-five sides Huddersfield and Catalan Dragons lifting belief around the club.
The Robins have opened up a four-point gap between themselves in seventh and Bradford in ninth, and head to St Helens on Friday looking to further cement their place in the play-off places.
A win over the Saints, who sit in eighth spot and trail the Robins by just a point, would do just that, and although Cox says they will be confident, he says KR must stick to what has brought them recent success.
"It's good to be finding form at the business end of the season. This is when everybody wants to be playing well and winning and that's important going into the play-offs," Cox told the Mail.
"We're taking nothing for granted though because Saints need the two points as much as we do."
Rovers have twice beaten Saints this season, with Super League and Challenge Cup victories being chalked up at MS3 Craven Park in April.
But with Nathan Brown's men showing their abilities recently in an impressive win against Leeds, and with back to back wins over Bradford and Salford, Cox is wary of the challenge ahead.
"It's tough going to Saints, as they seem to be coming back from their dip in form," he said.
"They have their hooker James Roby and a few others back, and Roby is their strength.
"He is one of the best in the world alongside Cameron Smith, so we have to try and tire him out.
"He never knows when to stop, so we have to shut him down knowing we can't afford to take our eye off the rest. They had a good win against Salford and showed they aren't shy of putting a lot of points on teams."
After Saints away, Rovers face Salford at home, and another chance to further strengthen their position.
But Cox says KR won't make the mistake of getting too far ahead of themselves.
"We'll take things week by week, we don't look too far ahead because that's when you lose track of where you're going," he said.
"We don't want to do that because we have been on a bit of a good run recently.
"The key to the Catalan win was working hard in the middle. We knew they had a big pack and we knew we could match them as long as we worked hard together.
"We knew we could get over the top of them and that gives us encouragement for the Saints game."
