Craig Sandercock wants his Hull KR side to defend for their lives in France

CRAIG Sandercock believes his side's improvement in defence could help him to inflict a first defeat on Catalan Dragons as Hull KR coach.

Catalan beat Rovers in all three meetings last season, despite three very close matches, and Laurent Frayssinous' side left MS3 Craven Park with a 32-24 win earlier in this campaign.

But at the fifth time of asking, Sandercock hopes stopping their big forwards from getting a roll on will help to bring back two points from Toulouse.

"They have some big players in their team," he said.

"In their last game they had Jamal Fakir and Lopini Paea come off the bench. They are massive so it will be a big job for our forwards to hold them.

"In the last six weeks we have worked hard on our defence and ways of minimising the impact of big players in the opposition.

"If one forward gets the better of you and then another and another, it's hard to stop.

"But we have to do our best to work together.

"We'll ascertain the conditions on game day. We have a game plan at the moment, but that might change depending on the conditions."

Con Mika has been named in the Robins' initial 19-man squad, even though he has been struggling with a groin injury picked up in the 35-28 win over Huddersfield.

Lincoln Withers has been left behind as he recovers from a hamstring injury, which means Keal Carlile has been recalled to the squad.
