HULL FC fell to back-to-back defeats as they went down 30-28 in a see-saw battle at Castleford Tigers. Centre Ben Crooks scored four tries, but it wasn't enough for his side as they lost at the Wish Communication Stadium. Hull led by 10 points at the break thanks to two tries for Ben Crooks and a score for Aaron Heremaia, with Castleford getting on the scoreboard through Richard Owen. Finishing off a Joe Westerman break, Crooks handed Hull the perfect start after just two minutes, but the Tigers were level almost immediately when Owen out jumped Jason Crookes to take Rangi Chase's kick. A tight game ensued, but with half-time approaching Hull struck twice. First, Hermaia scored on his first touch as he capitalised on Liam Watts' break through the hosts' defence, then Crooks took a short pass from Heremaia to finish an attractive scrum play. Hull held the advantage, but within 10 minutes of the re-start it had been wiped out thanks to three tries in eight minutes. Chase started the run finishing off a break he started on the halfway line, with Daryl Clark and then Jonathan Walker scoring. Hull hit back thanks to Heremaia's second and Crooks' hat-trick, with the scores staying level as Holdsworth failed with his conversions. Those missed attempts were costly when with 10 minutes to go Castleford equalled Hull's try tally with their fifth, thanks to James Clare's 90-metre effort. With Dixon making it five from five with the boot, the Tigers led by six points. Crooks was doing his best to give Hull a chance and when the teenager darted through for his fourth, Holdsworth was presented with a chance to level from the touchline, but once again he saw his attempt sail agonisingly wide.
