After months of protest, Dunswell Primary School has finally gained academy status.
Parents, who have been campaigning to keep the 'small school with a big heart' open, are overjoyed by the news.
With the school's concerns of closure terminated, both parents and students are now on track to make sure this rural school stays at its best.
Eleanor, 11, a pupil at the school said: "I am really excited that the school is going to stay open.
"Everyone is really glad that they can stay at the school and keep the same teachers."
As a previous pupil at the school, I am also happy to see this small school stay open.
It is such a nice feeling to see the place that had such an impact on your life influence so many other young people and families.
It is clear to see that the school's joy is partially been due to the love and commitment of the families who attend the school.
Lucy-May, 11 added:"I am very happy; the school is lovely and deserves to stay open."
Many of the older students in the school were worried about the school closing as they had up and coming exams, which may have been interrupted due to the closure.
I know from experience that a change in the way in which you are taught can make a massive difference in results.
Other students commented, saying it is tradition for previous students to return and see how the school is, and are glad to know that they can do the same in a couple of years time.
From visiting the school, the happy vibes are such a joy to see and remind me of my past memories of the school.
Ethan, 11 commented: "The school has been open for so many years so really shouldn't be closed. I am really happy for the school."
Millie, 10 added: "Although I will be leaving to go to secondary school in September, I am happy because the school staying open means my sister can stay at the school.
"It is a really good school and it will be nice to know my sister will be able to stay with her teachers and friends."
With so many happy parents, teachers and students, it is an event in Dunswell Primary School's history that will not be forgotten.
