HEALTH boss Phil Morley has reprimanded staff for comments made in light of a leaked video.
The chief executive of Hull and East Yorkshire Hospitals NHS Trust was branded "out of touch" earlier this week when a video he made, in which he was dressed as Superman and dancing down the corridor, was leaked onto the internet.
It was originally intended for the trust's own intranet, to be seen by employees working at Hull Royal Infirmary and Castle Hill Hospital.
Now staff have passed a letter Mr Morley sent out to employees to the Mail.
It says: "While we tried to have a bit of fun with this, one thing that is not funny is the response from a small number of our own colleagues.
"Clearly, some people are not aware that it is a breach of trust policy to post comments that bring our organisation in to disrepute on websites.
"A number of the things they have said about the way the trust is run and about me personally are unprofessional and extremely hurtful.
"Hopefully, as you can see, I can laugh at myself and I do not intend to take any further action on this occasion, despite the personal nature of a small number of these posts.
"Please be aware, though, that we know the names of everyone who has posted inappropriate comments, and any repeat of this behaviour will have to be dealt with more severely, in accordance with our policy."
The Superman video was made for a Workout At Work Day (W@WD) organised for employees last week.
Save Our NHS Hull and East Yorkshire claims Mr Morley's letter to staff shows a lack of judgment on his part.
Campaigner Dermot Rathbone said: "The letter seems to show he is more bothered about how he looks, rather than how staff and the community feel.
"Once again, Mr Morley has shown a complete lack of judgement and has absolutely no radar or ability to take the temperature within his organisation.
"I've experienced it myself – I'm being treated for an ongoing health condition and in March when I went to Hull Royal Infirmary, the staff were stressed out to the max. The whole system is falling apart.
"There seems to be a disconnect between Mr Morley's perception of what is going on and what is actually happening on the ground.
"We feel he is trashing morale and blaming his staff."
