HULL City will look to thrash out the final details of a £2m deal to land loan star Ahmed Elmohamady within the next seven days.
The Tigers have been in negotiations with Elmohamady's representatives for the last month following the Egyptian international's hugely-successful stay at the KC that climaxed with a final-day promotion to the Premier League.
A £2m fee has long been agreed with parent club Sunderland and, following progressive talks in recent weeks, Elmohamady is edging towards a permanent three-year deal.
A source close to the player has suggested to the Mail the deal is now close to being a formality. "I cannot foresee any problems with the deal," he said.
Elmohamady is due to fly back into England this weekend following an extended season on international duty with Egypt.
The 25-year-old featured as a substitute in both World Cup qualifying victories over Zimbabwe and Mozambique this month, wins that leave Elmohamady and his team-mates just a two-legged qualifier away from Brazil 2014.
Although interest was lodged in Elmohamady by two rival Premier League clubs last month, the right winger made it clear his preference is to team up with City boss Steve Bruce again.
An affinity with the manager that first brought him to England in 2010 makes the KC the preferred destination for City's reigning Player of the Season, while he is also willing to fulfil the wishes of owner Assem Allam to live within close reach of East Yorkshire.
City have until June 30 to complete the £2m clause pencilled into the original loan agreement with Sunderland, but even if delays are encountered, the Tigers will not meet resistance from Black Cats boss Paolo Di Canio.
