A CAREER criminal described as a one-man "crime tsunami" has committed more than 150 burglaries, robberies and thefts in Hull.

Daniel Davies, 26, has been jailed after admitting 69 burglaries across the city in areas including Bransholme, Orchard Park, The Avenues, east Hull and the city centre.

He has previously admitted more than 100 burglaries, robberies and thefts over the past decade.

Davies has targeted homes, businesses and vehicles in his crime spree.

For his latest offences, he has been locked up for four years.

Under Humberside Police's Operation Cleanslate, Davies has come clean to the police about a decade of offending, which has seen him steal more than £90,000 of property.

Some of the crimes date back to when he was aged just 13.

Davies pleaded guilty at Hull Crown Court to two burglaries committed in 2009 and 2011 at Hull Crown Court and asked for a further 67 to be taken into consideration.

Judge David Tremberg told him: "You have an extreme record.

"If you had been convicted after trial it is likely the court would be considering a sentence of up to ten years.

"However, all of the matters before the court you have admitted and, but for your admission, it is unlikely the police would have identified them and linked them to you.

"To reduce or extinguish the risk of the police knocking on your door in the future, you have taken advantage of the Cleanslate policy to admit these offences.

"The losses here run into thousands. There was clearly a significant degree of planning with these burglaries."

The court heard Davies has a long-standing heroin addiction and committed the burglaries to fund his habit.

He was jailed for four-and-a-half years last September for a honeytrap robbery in which a female accomplice lured a man down an alleyway in the city centre for sex. Davies then jumped out and robbed him.

During his time in Prison, Davies contacted the police to admit to further offences.

He has previously used Operation Cleanslate when he was jailed for burglaries in 2011, when he asked for 85 offences to be taken into consideration.

Davies had targeted hotels, businesses and residents across the city, stealing vehicles and goods.

He was finally caught after he and a friend broke into a city centre flat, armed with large knives, and threatened three residents.

On that occasion, Recorder Peter Johnson told Davies: "Your reputation is not so much of a one-man crime wave, more a crime tsunami."

Davies was responsible for stealing 25 cars and six motorbikes from homes in Hull and breaking into 46 cars, stealing items such as sat-navs. He targeted cars parked at city centre hotels, repeatedly hitting the Premier Inn and Holiday Inn.

The prolific thief, of Harley Street, west Hull, also stole handbags from hair salons, cafés and pubs.

Detective Inspector Nicki Miller said: "We never give up on bringing offences to a resolution and this shows the persistence of officers has paid off and we can now give the victims the result they have been hoping for.

"Across the force, officers give offenders the opportunity to 'Cleanslate' when they are in custody.

"This allows them to admit to any other offences, similar offences, or lesser offences and have them taken into consideration, which gives them the opportunity to leave prison and make a fresh start."
