FOR 15 years, residents on an east Hull estate have been wowed by a Christmas lights display that would rival any across the city.
Stuart Broadley's home in Medina Road, on the Longhill estate, east Hull, is renowned for having some of the best lights in Hull.
From golden arches and flashing stars to ornate family heirlooms, there is not much Stuart's house does not offer at Christmas.
Stuart and his wife Carol began decorating their house when their two sons David, now 26, and Craig, now 20, were children.
Stuart said: "I have always really enjoyed decorating the house with Christmas lights and decorations.
"When my two sons were growing up they would always ask about the lights and when I was putting them up so it was all for them at the start.
"Even though they have grown up now I still love lighting up the house every year."
The house is decorated with festive carousels, reindeer train sets, a stations, Father Christmas and even a music box with its very own carol singing band.
Add to that some lashings of fake snow and tinsel and the Broadley's home resembles a winter wonderland.
The inspiration for Stuart to start collecting Christmas decorations came from watching festive films and his admiration for the houses featured in the stories.
From Home Alone to Miracle On 34th Street, the decorations and lights presented in the films gave Stuart the idea of making his home stand out.
He said: "Watching all the films at this time of year made me a bit jealous of what they had, so I wanted to do my own thing to celebrate Christmas."
Stuart, 46, and Carol, 45, have continued to add to their collection of festive decorations for the enjoyment of their 22-month-old grandson, Charlie, and their neighbours.
"I always get asked by the neighbours and their kids when the lights are going up," he said.
"I love Christmas and everything that goes with it, so to have people ask when my decorations are going up is great.
"I am one of those people who wish it could be Christmas every day. This year my lights were switched on by my grandson and he loves them."
Stuart, whose favourite decorations this year are the golden arches and silver stars, is always on the lookout for new illuminations that will enhance his festive display.
"Once Christmas is over and people are taking down their lights, I go out and try to get some bargains in the sales," he said.
"We often have a walk around the estate and other areas of Hull to see what other families are doing and sometimes I get some good ideas from that.
"Shops are now becoming a bit more aware of people spending more on decorations, so it is getting harder to find a good bargain that I don't already have."
