HULL KR coach Craig Sandercock says he is fully prepared to work hard and scout around to bring new players to the club for next season.
The Aussie coach, who signed a new one-year deal to stay at the Robins for a third campaign earlier this month, has become accustomed to working on tight budgets at MS3 Craven Park.
The club has operated around £70,000 below the salary cap this season, and hinted at making further savings in its playing squad next year.
And Sandercock admits it will see him 'scouting' around the Championship again in an attempt to bring in players who can make it at the top, alongside Rovers' more senior stars.
"I will keep scouting around in the Championship and look what there is out there because at the moment there are some quality players there," Sandercock told the Mail.
"At the moment I watch as much as I can and I have people out there doing scouting for me. There are quite a few players there that given the opportunity to train full time could really do well."
Sandercock has already shown recruiting from the lower leagues can be done with success.
Last season he kept a close eye on the progression of Batley winger Alex Brown, eventually offering him a chance to prove himself at Super League level.
He has gone on to become a first-team regular this season, improving as the campaign has progressed and impressing his coach along the way.
"Alex has done a really good job," Sandercock added.
"He had quite a few deficiencies in his game and he has worked hard on them and has been getting better and better and that is full credit to him."
Rovers have already been dealt a blow in their plans for 2014 as star prop Mickey Paea has rejected the offer of a new deal and told the club he wants to leave.
Increasing speculation has linked him with a move across the city to Hull FC, with the Black and Whites known to have made an approach to the Tongan.
Other clubs are also reportedly circling the likes of captain Michael Dobson and second rower Cory Paterson as KR continue to seek the new investment needed into the club.
"We are not the richest club in Super League and we will not be paying outlandish amounts of money to retain a player or to buy a player," Sandercock added when asked about squad building for next year.
"I knew that when I accepted the job. It would be very nice to have the cash to spend and buy anybody I wanted or keep any player I want to keep, but that is just the way it is."
