EAST YORKS: Hornsea Inshore Rescue was called to assist two Hull men who had got into difficulties while in the sea.
The team were called at 12.30pm yesterday to help one man in a kayak and another in an inflatable boat, who were drifting out to sea.
The men were spotted by a woman on the beach, who dialled 999 to alert the coastguard.
The Inshore Rescue team were then made aware of the problem, and launched their rapid response jet bike to help the men, which was shortly followed by the rescue boat.
The casualties were spotted about a mile out to sea between Hornsea and Mappleton where they had launched their craft.
Both men were safely recovered by the jet bike while the rescue boat retrieved the kayak and the deflated boat.
Paramedics checked the casualties over before one of the men was taken to Hull Royal Infirmary as a precautionary measure.
